I'm late, but am joining in on Mrs. Nurse Boy's Monday's Random Musings today. For the originator of these Monday random thoughts check out her blog Poop on Jelly.
Hubby and I are on vacation this week. We haven't gone anywhere exotic or even anywhere half way interesting. We rarely do and that's fine by me. We're mainly staying at home with a few day trips sprinkled in. Today Hubby and I went to lunch for our anniversary -- out alone. Yes, alone. No toddler in tow. We dropped him off at the sitters for the day and ate our Olive Garden meal without a three-foot tall terrorist trying to drag us around the restaurant instead of eating.

After lunch we wandered around Barnes and Nobles where I looked for potty training books for Jonathan and then we went to Toys R' Us where we looked for Spider-man and Iron Man figurines for Jonathan. Um. . . apparently our world still revolves around that little guy in many ways. And apparently we are both serious nerds as we both uttered "ooh" and "ah" and "I remember these!" several times during the 10 minute visit to Toy Mecca. Although, I'd say Hubby is a bigger one since most of his "Aw, man! Check this out!" were about GI Joes and Batman toys.(Not to mention that when I was writing this post and Hubby was looking over my shoulder reading it, he said: "Iron Man's two words and Spider Man is hyphenated." Holy crap. What a Nerd with a capital "N".)

Although I'm trying to stay away from the news for the most part this week, I see CNN is covering the confirmation hearings of Sonia Sotomayor this week. I'm curious as to why. I mean, does she have some kind of connection to Michael Jackson? Did she give birth to a baby for him or marry him or does she know where he's going to be buried or why he went from an African American man to a Caucasian woman? If not, then why would CNN be covering it?

Jonathan has been tattling on his mommy lately. The other night I was trying to close the blinds in the bedroom when I knocked the blinds off their holder for the tenth or eleventh time.
"Ooooh!" Jonathan said, shaking his head. "I go get daddy!"
In my defense, the blinds are not hooked on correctly and the cord is stuck. It is. (In other words: It's not my fault! Waa!)
That's all I've got for tonight. There is very little bloggy time left when one is on vacation at home and one's toddler wants to go to "paaaygroun!" every three minutes or is insistent that you "pay with me" even though he won't let you build anything with the blocks unless he approves it first. It's like dealing with the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources: "We want to encourage you to help save the environment, but don't touch ANYTHING UNLESS WE TELL YOU YOU CAN. And that will be about 10-years from now when we send your paperwork through all that red tape."
Despite the dictator-like behavior of my child we've been having a blast already -- and apparently he has too, to the point he's totally wiped himself right out:
